It's Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, and we have 10 games on the docket today, 4 of which will be played in Hockey Bones. With today's games we will also be passing the 100 games played for this project milestone so huzzah! An unexpected little bonus for me personally is game #100 will feature my Colorado Avalanche! However, that is still less than 10% of the total games that will need to be played to complete the regular season games. But enough of my blather, let's get to the games!

J. DeBrusk: scored twice including what was ultimately the game winner with 5 shots on goal, 2 assists and a +4 +/- rating.
D. Pasternak: scored twice with 6 shots on goal, had two assists and ended the night with a +5 +/- rating.
C. Coyle: had two assists and ended the night with a +4 +/- rating.
Dallas stormed out of the gate in this game scoring in the opening time segment, and then proceeded to implode. They didn't even manage a shot on goal that made Boston's goalie work for the save until the third period. I'd say that Dallas kept Boston in check for the first period which saw Boston score no goals, but Boston firmly controlled that period and just made nothing of the 23 shooting opportunities Dallas gave them. Dallas somehow managed to keep Boston out of their goal until 34 minutes of Hockey had been played. Once the dam broke though, 4 more were scored over the remaining 26 minutes. Amazingly there were no penalties in this game which is something I don't think I have ever said in these replays using any game. Yesterday (Oct 24th) saw Toronto finally claim the sole top spot atop the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. With this win, Boston joins them at the top, tied for first.
In real life, Boston won this game 1-3.

From a Penalty-Free game to one where 28 penalty minutes were handed out! And yet with all that time in the Sin-Bin, only Detroit managed a single Power Play Goal. Both teams defenses had things locked down in the first period with a total of 10 shots on goal between both teams. Detroit found their way into the back of the net multiple times in the second though and after 40 minutes they were up 3-1. New Jersey mounted a strong comeback attempt scoring three in the third but Detroit managed to score twice more as well putting them up by one. Detroit's Sundqvist got called for a Minor Penalty at 16:00 and New Jersey had a chance to tie the game with a man-advantage but fell short. Once Detroit killed off the penalty they miraculously managed to control the puck until there was not enough time left on the clock to pull the goalie for any meaningful attempt so New Jersey accepted the defeat with their starting goalie still in net. While this loss doesn't change New Jersey's standing in their division, the win for Detroit puts them in sole posession of the top spot in the Atlantic Division dethroning the tied Bruins & Maple Leafs. That division is going to be be super interesting to watch this season!
Oh and for those of you who actually check out the scoresheet and were wondering why New Jersey's penalties were marked in green, well both teams dominant color is red and when that happens I give the dominant color to the home team. I chose green for the contrast and no other reason. Although if you need one, New Jersey is the Garden State, isn't it? ;P
In real life, New Jersey won this game 6-2.

And just like that, Colorado's string of wins to start the season comes to an end at 6, in a game that only saw them playing "their style" of hockey for a single period. They came out flat and after just over 5 minutes, New York was up 0-2. Colorado's desperation showed in their selfish play with each succesful goal having just a single assist. The second period saw Colorado dominate both the posession and the Shots on Goal battle, and yet they still only managed a single goal from Defensem*n B. Byram. Even MacKinnon was silenced managing a single shot on goal for the entire game! New York in their Hockey Bones debut was showing exactly why they are on top of the Metropolitan Division. In fact, thanks to their only loss coming in Over-Time, they are now the #1 team in the leage with 13 points! I guess when I finally rolled a Bench Minor on Colorado at the start of the game (I roll all three periods at the start of the game so I don't forget to roll them in-between periods haha) I should have known it was gonna be one of "those" games LOL
Just as an aside, this was game #100 played for this season. Such a shame it had to be a loss for Colorado! Anywho...
In real life, Colorado won this game 3-2 in a Shootout.

S. Theodore: despite being on the third defensive line, managed to get 4 assists and ended the night with a +4 +/- rating.
A. Hill: stopped 26 of 27 shots on goal to end the night with a 96.3% Save Percentage. Oh and he had an assist as well!
WHAT! A! BLOWOUT! Yes, Vegas was a very good team this season. Yes, San Jose was not. But still... 8 to 1! It got so bad, I replaced the goalie which is something I rarely do these days. It's me rolling the dice, not them in net LOL Of course that didn't happen until after Vegas managed a Short-Handed-Goal in the first period. That goal was the first of R. Smith's Hat-Trick as well! He was also assisted by Vegas' Goalie, A. Hill on it to boot! San Jose for their part didn't play particularly poorly, other than perhaps a puck-battle perspective with Vegas getting nearly twice the shots on goal. But 7 of San Jose's shots were "in Range" making Vegas' goalie work for the save, and work he did stopping 6 of them! I have played plenty of games where the winning team had 7 or less shots on goal "in range". Still in the end it wasn't enough to make this even a respectable outing for San Jose. Here's hoping a break from all the doom and gloom happens for them soon.
In real life, Vegas won this game 4-2.

I normally don't comment on the Stone Cold games, but we lost a great Hockey Player this past Thursday when Johnny Gaudreau was struck and killed by a drunk driver while bicycling with his brother Matthew who also lost his life. Such a tragic loss for their family, and for the Columbus and Calgary communities. As fate would have it, he managed a goal and two assists in this game! Well done brotha!

What a day of games! Minnesota finally managed to notch a win. Chicago handed Florida their fifth Over-Time loss in a thirlling Shootout, one of two games to have to be decided by Shootout from this batch. Don't forget, you can see all of the detailed stats in the spreadsheet (GoogleSheets link) I created for this project. It includes lots of things calculated off of the individual and team stats that just aren't shown on the Scoresheets. Be sure to go give it a look! Fair warning though: It is HUGE!
And that will do it for October 25th, 2022. We passed 100 games played for this project with todays slate of games as well! Stone Cold now has a 3 game lead over Hockey Bones. After tomorrow's light schedule of just 3 games, that lead will increase to 4. Let's hope this is a trend ;P It's not that I don't love playing Hockey Bones, I do! But I was kinda hoping by sticking with just 8 of 32 teams, with all the times they would be playing each other over the course of the season, I was estimating the percentage to be 30-40%. It's effectively 50% at the moment hahaha
A minor update to the spreadsheet has happened as well. It's effectively adds nothing new, which is why I didn't feel the need to change it's version number hahah That won't happen again until I link up games 21-30. But if you scroll down on the summary page, you can now see how the teams are stacking up within their conferences as well as overall in the league. Pretty cool!
So until next time, thanks for reading!
